my Philotimo Experience: from the inside - Joe Wojcik

We asked the Philotimo team a simple question “What is your Philotimo Experience?” Read on for their perspective from the inside and what Philotimo means to them.

Joe Wojcik, Head of Sales

It was 5 - maybe 6 - years ago that I was at a networking event when I met this suave professional guy. Like all events, we had to go around the room and tell everyone what we did. This guy gets up and says “Hi my name is Nigel from Philotimo, we help businesses grow…

To be honest, I was still trying to pronounce the company name “Fill what e mo”.

Yeah I didn’t get it.

But what I did get from that moment was I like what that business is about; and then I parked it for quite a few years.

6 years later, I was told the name of the company looking for a Performance Implementation Partner was Philotimo.

I said to the recruiter, “I know that company” and he said “No, I doubt that you do”.

Low and behold I did know the company. I interviewed with Tim and Elana - Philotimo CEO and COO - and as it was through Covid, a simple Zoom meeting was on the cards.

First Impressions count, and for those that know me I use the saying Fish rots from the head down.

My first impression of both Tim and Elana were that these two are passionate, caring and focussed. Exactly the people I want to work with; people that care about their clients, who focus on results, and are truly passionate about making positive change to businesses and the people in them. Fortunately they hired me and now I get to live by the philosophies of Philotimo.

Becoming a Performance Implementation Partner (PIP) is a journey. The PIPs we have on our team have diverse business and academic backgrounds that would astound most people. We have a talent pool that we can tap into to assist with complex business issues and scenarios that I have witnessed. I can honestly say that the solutions and business plans we have created have been outstanding.

I get to work with a team of people that only want to help others grow.

I have worked in many roles through my career and built teams and businesses over that time but I have never witnessed such a passion for doing good, for helping customers achieve their goals, for working with businesses on their strategies and making sure we get results.

Philotimo means different things to different people. Google says :”Love of Honour”.
Our clients would say it is love and trust of them and their business.

I say that I have never experienced such passion and commitment from a group of people who just want to help others while sharing their knowledge and experience.

Like all workplaces we have fun. However we are quite serious about what we do and our commitment to performance, and on our client days it is full on. Our team is either in meeting rooms, on zoom calls or on site. When we get the chance we laugh. When I say laugh, I mean that belly laugh that hurts your cheekbones and abs. They say laughter is your best medicine and again, those that know me (and work with me!) know that I like to have a laugh and believe you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

My friends tell me I have found my calling: helping businesses succeed through sound strategies, advice and good management. I hope this is true, but the judge of that is you - our clients. Why? Because it is how you - our client - value what we do and the results we deliver that makes what we do worth it.

Philotimo has built a tool kit of strategies, skills and deliverables that have proven successful and are elements that we continue to develop as businesses grow and their requirements change. Our ability to cater for needs is unsurpassed and I get to see it unfold on a daily basis.

Some people ask me are you glad you made the move? My answer is not that simple because every move you make in life is another piece of the puzzle that builds who we are. So my answer is this, I think I’m close to completing my career puzzle and all the pieces seem to be with Philotimo. So in short… yes.

The People, the culture, the tools we have, the clients, the networks and the skill sets all make working at Philotimo challenging, exciting, inspiring and best of all fun.
